Cups at Venues & a Centralized Wash Hub
Every year, Maine events and venues throw away millions of single-use cups, creating unnecessary costs, waste, and environmental impact. Reuse Maine offers a better way: a practical, scalable alternative through a shared reusable cup system supported by event venues and a centralized wash hub partner.
Seeking Partners:
WASH HUB
Our wash hub partner will work alongside Reuse Maine staff and volunteers to support the cleaning, sanitizing, and redistribution of reusable cups between events by providing access to commercial dishwashing infrastructure and collaborating on logistics.
Participating wash hub partners will assist with:
-
Washing and sanitizing reusable cups to food-service standards
-
Supporting the collection, sorting, and preparation of cups for future events
-
Collaborating with Reuse Maine staff and volunteers on transportation and inventory management
-
Helping refine operations and identify opportunities to improve the system as the pilot grows
Together, Reuse Maine, wash hub partners, and volunteers will establish the infrastructure needed to make reuse practical, scalable, and successful for events across Maine.
EVENT VENUE
Event venue partners serve as the public-facing component of the pilot by integrating reusable cups into their events.
Participating venues will:
-
Utilize reusable cups in place of disposable cups during pilot events
-
Support cup collection and return procedures
-
Provide feedback on operational logistics and attendee experience
-
Help demonstrate the viability of reuse at scale
Benefits include reducing waste, lowering environmental impact, showcasing sustainability leadership, and contributing to a regional solution that can be replicated across communities.
